Leeds United faced Burton Albion in the Championship this afternoon.

Leeds United were expected to return to winning ways in the Championship this afternoon when they took on Burton Albion.
Despite being the visiting team, Leeds were the favourites to pick up all three points at the Pirelli Stadium.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit suffered a 2-1 defeat which has further dented their chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship.
After a goalless first half, Burton took the lead in the 75th minute when Marvin Sordell scored.
Michael Kightly doubled the home team’s advantage just two minutes later, and although Kyle Bartley halved the deficit for the visitors, Burton held on for the three points.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match, and he has given his reaction to the final result.
“No chances fell for Leeds today – but they should have taken more shots, asked more questions of Bywater,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “We’ve been talking about not testing the keeper enough for weeks. Pretty passing is great but there has to be an end product.
“You have to give credit to Burton, but you make your own luck. You have to be brave enough to get into the area and when you don’t, have a shot. Bywater has had so few saves to make.”
“This is what’s been so heartbreaking and galling,” added Whelan. “Leeds have given themselves a chance to make it into the top six but they’ve lost momentum at the wrong time.
“They were too poor goals to concede today and the team out there should have been strong enough to compete today, to get something out of it. They didn’t show they’re ruthless enough in the final third – they should have bombarded Bywater today.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon, visitors Leeds had 64% of the possession, took 10 shots of which two were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.
The defeat means that Leeds are three points behind sixth-placed Fulham in seventh sport in the Championship table.
