Burnley’s relegation odds show lack of respect

With Burnley flying high in the Premier League, their relegation odds can be considered a tad disrespectful.

Going into the new season it’s understandable that many were tipping Burnley for relegation. After all, they were relegated in their previous tenure under Sean Dyche so many were expecting it to be a case of lather, rinse and repeat. Thankfully for Clarets fans that has not been the case, with the Lancashire based club bucking up their ideas and putting on a solid first half of the campaign.

Unfortunately, that success has not been replicated in the bookies. With half of the season gone Burnley find themselves in 12th position, eight points above the relegation zone. Despite this, bookmakers like bet365 have them down as fourth favourites for the drop despite the vast improvements they’ve made under Dyche.

Burnley fans and officials aren’t likely to take too much notice of this, but it is worth noting that not everyone is a fan of the work being done at Turf Moor. Perhaps some people believe they are scraping by with the results they have been picking up, but if anything it’s the complete opposite.

The manner in which Burnley are winning games by wearing their opponents down and punishing their mistakes should be applauded. Dyche has turned this team into a side capable of pushing for the top half, which is a huge achievement considering the expectations that accompanied them this season.
