Michael Keane admits Burnley ‘haven’t learned quickly enough’ after throwing away two two-goal leads in the space of four days.

Michael Keane has told the Lancashire Telegraph that Burnley need to take important lessons from the mistakes made over the course of a testing week.

Sean Dyche had seen his Turf Moor tenure last 108 games before a two-goal lead was surrendered.

Much of that spell has been in the Championship, but the Clarets have spent five months among the Premier League elite this term.

The concern for Dyche and his men is that, having gone so long without slipping up when comfortably in front, concentration levels appear to have dipped.

Burnley saw Tottenham Hotspur hit back from two goals down to prevail 4-2 in an FA Cup third round replay, before Crystal Palace did the same to edge a Premier League encounter 3-2 on Saturday.

Keane admits that the Turf Moor outfit have allowed their usually high defensive standards to slip, with it unlike Dyche’s side to leave themselves so open.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “We are normally comfortable in those positions but it happened in mid-week and we need to learn our lessons from these.

“We haven’t learned quickly enough and it’s happened again on Saturday so we missed the chance to put some more points on the board.

“We are normally quite solid at the back with our shape but we weren’t ourselves and we got punished for it.”

Burnley can take positives from the Opta statistics above.

While they were breached three times against Palace, they did not do too much wrong as a collective.

They put in a season-high number of tackles and have made more clearances in just four other top-flight outings.

Their block count may be something of a concern, with the Eagles able to progress too easily at times, but Dyche will hope to see hard work rewarded in future fixtures.
