Burnley’s bid to sign Dodi Lukebakio is reportedly ‘on the verge of collapse’ with despite the Premier League outfit offering £11 million for the Belgium international.
Earlier this week, former Newcastle United and Belgium defender Philippe Albert found himself urging Dodi Lukebakio to accept Burnley’s proposal.
A move to Turf Moor – one that would see the jet-heeled forward link up with compatriot Vincent Kompany – would be a ‘good idea’, according to Albert.
Unfortunately for Burnley, it seems that Lukebakio does not appear to share his enthusiasm for a late-summer switch to Lancashire.

Burnley could miss out on Dodi Lukebakio
According to Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger, writing on Twitter, Burnley’s pursuit of the Hertha Berlin forward looks destined to fail following a dramatic hi-jack attempt from Europa League winners Sevilla.
“Dodi Lukebakio to Burnley is on the verge of collapse now,” Berge explains. “Sources are telling me that the 25-year-old striker turned down the proposal as he is not 100 per cent convinced.
“Sevilla could hi-jack the deal.”
Perhaps Lukebakio – who made only one league appearance during a forgettable spell at Watford – had reservations about joining a Burnley side who may be spending the next nine months or so battling for their very survival in England’s top flight. Lukebakio suffered relegation from the German Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin in May, and the scars still linger.
Sevilla, meanwhile, can offer Lukebakio European football at one of the biggest clubs in Spain.

Burnley, according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, were ready to pay £9.5 million up front for the one-time Fortuna Dusseldorf forward, who once scored a famous hat-trick against Bayern Munich. Lukebakio could have eventually set the Clarets back £11 million with bonuses included.
In better news, Burnley did complete the signing of another talented forward only a few days ago. Wilson Odobert arrives from Troyes. Kompany has also brought in fellow attackers Jacob Bruun Larsen, Luca Koleosho, Zeki Amdouni and Nathan Redmond.
