Burnley’s proposed transfer to sign Dan Ballard from Arsenal has reportedly fallen through after terms over the deal collapsed despite the player having a medical at Turf Moor.
According to the Athletic, the 22-year-old Arsenal talent was set to sign for Vincent Kompany’s side on a permanent deal this week. However, the transfer has now fallen through after terms were unable to be agreed upon between the two parties.

Ballard has been one of Arsenal’s best loan players in the past two seasons as the North Ireland international impressed for Blackpool in the 2020/21 campaign before taking his talents to Millwall last year, where the youngster again caught the eye.
With Arsenal keen to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax according to reports and William Saliba set to have a first-team role next season, it makes a lot of sense why the Gunners will be open to selling Ballard this summer, with Burnley seemingly the perfect club for the youngster.
Despite their frosty relationship with Arsenal, the Clarets are desperate to sign centre-backs this summer following their relegation back down to the Championship saw the likes of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski depart Burnley, with Ballard an ideal signing for Kompany’s side.
Indeed, the Arsenal defender was hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Ian Wright last season, and with Ballard showing he is capable of impressing in the Championship, Burnley will be kicking themselves that their deal to sign the centre-back has fallen through.

Ballard has been linked with numerous clubs already this summer, and whilst a move to Burnley would have worked out well for all parties, the Northern Ireland international won’t be short of suitors given how much time there is left in the transfer window.
At just 22, Ballard has impressed in both League One and the Championship, and with Arsenal open to selling the defender this summer, the youngster will likely depart north London in the coming weeks for greener pastures.
