Burnley, Sunderland and Hull City are in the mix to sign Glasgow Rangers’ Joey Barton from Ibrox.

Burnley are 3/1 favourites to re-sign midfielder Joey Barton, according to Bet Victor.

The 34-year-old left the Clarets on a Bosman in the summer to join Rangers on a two-year deal.

It was a surprising move by the former Premier League man, who played an instrumental role in helping Sean Dyche’s side win promotion back to the top flight last season.

But it’s a gamble that does not look like paying off for Barton, who is training with Rangers’ youth team following a high-profile falling-out with manager Mark Warburton.

He only returned from a six-week suspension this week, but his permission to train with the club again might well be in order to maintain his fitness ahead of a January departure.

Burnley are favourites to get him in January, ahead of bottom-of-the-table Sunderland (5/1) who certainly need a strong personality in the dressing room it would seem.

Sunderland, with two points, are yet to win any of their 10 Premier League games under David Moyes this season.

The Black Cats are joined in the relegation zone by Hull City, who Bet Victor have rated as 8/1 third favourites for the controversial midfielder. Hull are three points adrift of safety, behind 17th-placed West Ham United.

Barton, earning a reported £20,000 per week with Rangers, only managed five Scottish Premiership games for the Gers.
