Burnley have announced the signing of Adam Phillips after his Norwich City contract expired.

Phillips had been on trial at Burnley, who have handed him a one-year contract which contains a 12-month extension option.

The 21-year-old Lancastrian spent much of his youth on Liverpool’s books, but had been with Norwich for the past two campaigns.

Phillips failed to make a single first-team appearance for Norwich, however, while loan spells at Cambridge United and Hamilton Academical brought little success.

And he will hope to fare better at Burnley, where his spell is due to begin in Steve Stone’s Under-23 set-up.

But the former England youth international has told the Clarets’ official website that he hopes to train with the first-team squad and ‘show the manager (Sean Dyche) what I can do’.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche looks on before the Pre-Season Friendly match between Port Vale and Burnley at Vale Park on July 20, 2019 in Burslem, England.

Burnley host Norwich on 21 September, and travel to Carrow Road on 9 May, next year.

Have Norwich made a mistake allowing Phillips to leave?
