The Nottingham Forest defender isn’t needed at Burnley.
Burnley have been widely praised for their defensive resilience this season but there is speculation that manager Sean Dyche intends to add another centre-back to his squad.
Joe Worrall, who has produced some encouraging performances for Championship side Nottingham Forest, has been linked with a move to Burnley, as reported by The Mirror.
A composed and assured presence at the heart of the back four, it is easy to see why Premier League clubs would be interested in Worrall, with the 21-year-old possessing a vast amount of potential.
However, Burnley are not in a position at present where they need to recruit another centre-back, especially after James Tarkowski recently signed a new deal.
Tarkowski has forged a superb partnership with Ben Mee in the Burnley defence this season, while Kevin Long has also stepped in on some occasions.
Worrall possesses the quality to step up to the Premier League and will surely do so in due course, but the links with Burnley make little sense given that Dyche can already call upon a defence that has conceded just 19 goals in the Premier League this season.
Burnley would be better served by investing in other areas of their squad, with the need for more attacking players particularly pressing.
