Burnley should use part of £25 million windfall to snare Chelsea’s Tomas Kalas

The Chelsea defender would be a fantastic addition to the Burnley squad this summer.

Sean Dyche faces a hugely important summer ahead of him, as he looks to replace Michael Keane, who is all set to join Everton in a £25 million deal after completing his medical with the Toffees today, according to the Express.

The Clarets boss is well used to working with limited funds, but this summer might be different, what with the windfall that the club will receive from the sale of their 24-year-old centre-back.

And an interesting option for Burnley could be Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas, who impressed during a successful loan spell in the Championship with Fulham last season.

Standing at over 6ft tall, the Czech Republic international is strong in the air, and is a fantastic reader of the game. He also plays with a great level of composure and maturity – something that is quite rare for a defender who is so young.

At 24, the Chelsea man has still not reached his prime years as a centre-back, but he possesses all of the raw ingredients to become one of the very best defenders in the league, and given the opportunity of regular first-team football at Turf Moor, he could go on to fulfil his potential playing under Dyche.

Kalas will surely be looking for a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, whether it be on a permanent or temporary basis, with the likelihood of receiving first-team football under Antonio Conte next season diminishing, as the Italian continues to be linked with some of the world’s most highly-coveted defenders.

His contract in west London is due to expire in 12 months time, so Chelsea would surely be tempted into selling him this summer, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

And if Dyche manages to bring Kalas to Turf Moor, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Clarets.
