Burnley should consider making a loan move for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher.

Premier League outfit Burnley are reportedly close to completing the signing of Chris Wood from Leeds United.

The Clarets have already agreed a £15 million deal for the New Zealand international, and the player is set to undergo a medical, possibly on Sunday.

Wood will come as a direct replacement for Andre Gray who joined Watford this summer. His arrival will bolster the strike department, but Dyche could still further bolster his attacking department by signing Southampton’s highly rated striker Sam Gallagher on loan.

The Mirror (20th August, 02:51 AM) reported that a whole host of Championship clubs, including Wolves, Derby County, Aston Villa and Birmingham City, are all interested in the England youth international, but it is uncertain where Gallagher will play next.

The 21-year-old striker scored 12 goals last season for Blackburn Rovers, and is rated highly by the Saints. The club do not want to sell the 6 ft 4 in striker permanently, but rather want him to get regular games on a loan move.

And it would be ideal for the youngster to secure a loan move to a Premier League club, and mature as a player. The deal makes sense for all parties involved.
