The defender is set to return to Burnley after he was recalled.
Burnley have recalled Tom Anderson from his loan spell at League Two club Port Vale.
The centre-back featured prominently for Port Vale as he made 24 appearances in total, but has now been recalled, as reported by the club’s official website.
Anderson is a product of Burnley’s youth academy but the 24 year old has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance for the club and has instead been sent out on various loan spells.
His stint with Port Vale was Anderson’s eighth loan spell away from Burnley after he previously spent time with Barrow, Hyde, FC Halifax Town, Lincoln City, Carlisle United and Chesterfield.
It remains to be seen what the next step will be for Anderson but it wouldn’t be surprising if he was to be sent out on loan again, with it looking rather unlikely that he will feature for the Burnley first-team in the near future.
Anderson’s current contract with Burnley expires in the summer, at which point he could well be released.
It would perhaps be best for all parties if Anderson was to be let go at that juncture, with it looking increasingly unlikely that he will ever make the grade at Burnley.
