Burnley have missed out on the signing of prolific winger Bryan Linssen while Aiden O’Neill could leave Turf Moor for a return to Australia, according to the World Game.

For a club who tend to avoid any kind of negative headline, the last few weeks must have felt a little strange to all those connected to the Clarets.

One of the best run clubs in the Premier League are suddenly facing an uncertain future, with the Mail reporting recently that long-serving manager Sean Dyche could leave them in the lurch after a fall-out with chairman Mike Garlick.

Dyche’s frustration, it seems, came from the club’s failure to tie the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Joe Hart and Aaron Lennon, who have all since departed, down to new contracts.

According to reports, Burnley are set to lose another player – albeit one who has failed to force his way into Dyche’s first-team plans.

The World Game reports that 22-year-old midfielder O’Neill is expected to join Melbourne City after a fine loan spell at Brisbane Roar under Robbie Fowler.

Burnley had offered the Brisbane-born Australia U23 ace a new contract, but it appears unlikely that he will add to his three Premier League appearances in claret and blue.

Furthermore, a month after being linked with Linssen via Voetbal International, the former Vitesse Arnhem talisman has been unveiled by Eredivisie giants Feyenoord instead.

A speedy winger with the leap of a salmon, Linssen scored 14 goals in 2019/20 and 47 across three seasons at the Gelredome.
