Leeds United have beaten Burnley on penalties to progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds: “It was a great team performance and individual brilliance from Hernandez.
“Its come down to who can take penalties better. I don’t think I’ve ever seen five better taken penalties by Leeds United.”
The game had been evenly matched but a tactical change from Thomas Christiansen helped turn the game for Leeds as they shifted to play with three at the back.
Hadi Sacko came on as a substitute in his first appearance since August and scored on a superb counter attack.
It had appeared to be going their way before Gaetano Berardi conceded a late penalty and former Whites striker Chris Wood, on a substitute, stepped up to send Andy Lonergan the wrong way and score.
Just as it was going to extra-time, Leeds won a penalty of their own and Hernandez stepped up to score.
That had seemed to win the game before Robbie Brady scored a free-kick in injury time to level the scores at 2-2.
Former Leeds defender Charlie Taylor featured at left-back for Burnley, making a rare start against his former club.
