Burnley reportedly offered cash plus Matej Vydra for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips this summer.

A number of Burnley fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun on Sunday (4/8; page 67) at the weekend suggesting that the Clarets made a cash-plus-player bid for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips has been a revelation since he started working with Marcelo Bielsa. Following his arrival at Elland Road, Bielsa quickly turned the 23-year-old into a holding midfielder that acts as something of a quarterback while also frequently dropping into the back line to act as a third centre-back.
Unsurprisingly, he is attracting attention this summer, with The Sun on Sunday (4/8; page 67) reporting that the Clarets have made a bid while Aston Villa are also keen on the Whites academy graduate.
The report noted that Burnley’s offer involved a fee and included Matej Vydra moving to Leeds, but the Championship side turned down the bid.

It appears that the Burnley fans on social media are hopeful that the club may make a fresh move for Phillips before the window shuts, as they believe that a deal could be perfect for all parties.
With Kemar Roofe looking set to leave Leeds, Vydra’s arrival would see Bielsa secure a replacement with a proven record at Championship level. Meanwhile, they believe that Phillips would be an excellent addition to Sean Dyche’s midfield, so they are hoping that Burnley have another go.
