Chris Wood disappointed for Burnley on his debut, just days after his switch from Leeds United.

Chris Wood made a swift debut for Burnley last night just days after confirming his transfer from Leeds United.
The Clarets’ record buy started the Carabao Cup game against rivals Blackburn Rovers on the bench, but was called into action early in the first half after fellow summer signing Jonathan Walters suffered an injury.
Wood played his part in Burnley’s 2-0 win at Ewood Park, but it was Jack Cork and Robbie Brady who scored the goals.

While the New Zealand international will have been pleased to get onto the pitch in a victory, it could have been a lot better for him.
Wood missed multiple chances, including one from a cross from former Leeds teammate Charlie Taylor, which he headed over the bar.

He failed to score in his last two games for Leeds, and could have done with a confidence boosting goal ahead of the trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
On first viewing, Burnley fans were unimpressed with Wood’s contribution…
Wood will hope for better fortunes as his Burnley career progresses, but his early miscues led to amusement among Leeds fans.
Some of which is sour grapes after losing last season’s top scorer, while there is some feeling that the Whites have got the better end of the deal by cashing in high.
