Back-up and former number one Tom Heaton was not even in the squad as he was out with a calf problem, meaning it was up to Anders Lindegaard to step in.
Lindegaard is best known for once being seen as a legitimate competitor to David de Gea at Manchester United, before losing out to the Spanish number one.
His career has nosedived since, most recently struggling for game time at Preston.
Last night might just have been is lucky break, having signed for Burnley as a free agent earlier this summer.
Lindegaard impressed in Burnley’s 1-1 draw, and helped give his career a much needed shot in the arm.

Pope suffered a shoulder injury which is ‘more serious than not’, according to the Burnley Express, hinting a spell on the sidelines.
Tom Heaton will be expected to reclaim the starting spot when he is back fit if Pope is out for a few weeks or months.
