Leeds United need a goalkeeper and Burnley have three top quality ones.

Leeds United’s need for a goalkeeper must see their attention turn to Lancashire and a potential swoop on Burnley.

Burnley are set to welcome Nick Pope back from injury this weekend with Sean Dyche telling SkySports that the England international could start in the FA Cup against Barnsley.

Burnley are spoiled for choice, with Pope competing with Joe Hart, and Tom Heaton.

All three have represented England, and Leeds should be looking to sign whichever one Burnley decide they can do without.

Heaton has bounced back from his own injury problems to recently start the last two Premier League games for the Clarets, of which they have won both.

Tom Heaton of Burnley celebrates after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Burnley at Selhurst Park on April 29, 2017 in London, England.

The situation is very much in flux right now, but by the end of January, manager Sean Dyche will begin to settle on a pecking order.

It is likely to mean either Heaton or Pope being left out of the matchday squads as third choice and potentially becoming available for loan.

Leeds’ first choice goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has recently been struggling, especially so over the past fortnight.

Any of Burnley’s goalkeepers would be a big upgrade on Peacock-Farrell, given his recent form.

Teamtalk reported earlier this season that Leeds were keen on Heaton.

If Leeds are a little bit more patient, they might stand a chance of landing one of Burnley’s goalkeepers, which would make a huge difference to the Whites’ promotion challenge.
