The defender has produced some excellent displays for Burnley this season.

Burnley’s impressive performances this season have been built upon defensive resilience, with Sean Dyche’s side currently in sixth place in the Premier League having conceded just twelve goals all campaign.
James Tarkowski has been one of the outstanding performers for Burnley, with the 25-year-old making important blocks, interceptions and clearances with regularity.
A regular at the heart of the Burnley defence this season, Tarkowski has demonstrated that he is capable of performing consistently in the Premier League, having gained experience of playing in the top flight last campaign.

Should he continue to perform to such a high standard then Tarkowski will surely catch the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, who is assessing his possible options ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Southgate has many central-defensive options already, especially with the likes of Joe Gomez and Harry Maguire having forced their way into the setup, but injuries will inevitably strike at some point and in such an eventuality Tarkowski would be an intriguing choice to consider.

With Southgate preferring to field a three-man defence, there could still be an opportunity for Tarkowski to get into the squad if he can keep catching the eye with his resolute displays.
