The Burnley defender has been charged with violent conduct by the FA.
Burnley have been widely praised for their performances this season, with Sean Dyche’s side currently in sixth place in the Premier League.
The Clarets have been resolute at the back, as demonstrated by the fact that they have conceded just twelve goals in the Premier League this season, with the central-defensive partnership of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski proving especially effective.
Tarkowski has played every minute for Burnley in the Premier League so far this campaign, but that sequence could soon be about to come to an end, with the defender having been charged with violent conduct by the FA, as reported by BBC Sport.
The charge relates to an incident involving Glenn Murray, in which Tarkowski appeared to swing his arm into the chest of the Brighton & Hove Albion forward during Saturday’s goalless draw.
Brighton manager Chris Hughton claimed that his side should have been awarded a penalty for the incident and Tarkowski faces the prospect of a three-match ban.
Given that Tarkowski has performed so effectively for Burnley, losing him would certainly represent a significant blow and would come at a bad time, with games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United coming up for Dyche’s team.
However, Burnley may well still be able to cope, especially given that they managed to keep clean sheets against Watford and Stoke City recently when Mee was unavailable, with Kevin Long performing admirably.
Long may well be called upon again in Tarkowski is out, and, while the latter may be a big loss, Burnley, who are extremely well drilled under Dyche’s guidance, could still be resilient against high-profile opponents.
