The Clarets’ chairman has been discussing how Burnley will look to strengthen when the transfer window re-opens on January 1.
Burnley chairman Mike Garlick has told the Lancashire Telegraph that the Premier League newcomers will look to strengthen in the January transfer window, but will only look for “quality” signings as opposed to quantity.
The Clarets have had a great start to the season, since their return to English football’s top flight, with Sean Dyche’s men currently sitting in ninth place on 14 points.
But, their impressive start will not prevent the Clarets adding to their squad when the transfer market re-opens on January 1.

Garlick stated that whilst the club are gathering information regarding certain players, he is wary of some European players’ agents, looking to take advantage of the television money that sides receive in the Premier League.
The Burnley chairman told the Lancashire Telegraph: “The main aim is to be stronger on February 1 than December 31. We are targeting a couple of quality additions, but it’s got to be quality and not quantity.
“There’s a lot of European agents demanding millions of pounds as agent fees for players to come, which we reject straight away. A few issues have come about because of Brexit, the strength of the Euro means it’s slightly less attractive for a lot of European players to come here now.

“But we do want to look more and more to the European market because the UK is such a limited market, there’s only so many players at the level we’re at.”
Burnley signed six players during the summer with only one of those from Europe, in the form of central midfielder Steven Defour from Anderlecht for a reported £7.5 million, with rest from either the Premier League or the Championship.
The Clarets’ main objective for this season, one would think, is to ensure they remain in the Premier League, after failing to do so narrowly, by just five points, in their previous two attempts since the league was renamed in 1992.
