Burnley manager Sean Dyche has praised Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has told the Lancashire Telegraph that he still receives text messages from Tottenham Hotspur full back Keiran Trippier.

Spurs take on Burnley at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon, with the Clarets desperately looking to improve their away form following their 1-0 midweek defeat at West Ham United.

Dyche’s men have picked up just one point and one goal away from home so far this season, and whilst their home form has been impressive, they are struggling on the road.

A trip to White Hart Lane – where Spurs hammered Hull City 3-0 on Wednesday evening – doesn’t look too appealing for Dyche’s side, but they could run in to a familiar face in North London.

Tottenham right back Kieran Trippier left Burnley for a move to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2015, having racked up 185 appearances for the club following a 2010 move from Manchester City.

Trippier played 19 games for Spurs last season, mostly filling in for Kyle Walker in cup competitions, whilst he’s made seven appearances this term – but has yet to start a Premier League game this season.

Trippier looks unlikely to play for Spurs against former club Burnley unless manager Mauricio Pochettino rotates his full backs, but Clarets boss Sean Dyche has hailed the right back, suggesting that his presence at Tottenham has forced Kyle Walker to improve.

Dyche even told the Lancashire Telegraph that he still receives texts off Spurs defender Trippier, stating that he makes it clear just how much he enjoyed his time at Turf Moor.

“It’s credit the players we work with, we can only offer them an environment and way of working – I don’t force the way we work on any player, we offer it to them and say this is good for you, and if it’s good for you, eventually it will be good for us,” said Dyche. “And I think Tripps definitely bought into that, got on with it and enjoyed his time. He makes that clear time with the odd text message, which is usually interesting!”

“I must say, I don’t know whether it’s because of that or him just maturing as a player, but Walker has stepped on again. It seemed when Tripps arrived, that it gave him a bit of a boost, and he’s done very well. Everyone knows what I think of Tripps, but for sure, the manager there knows his players and deems Walker to be in front of Tripps and has done more or less since he’s been there,” he added.
