Could Burnley’s Sean Dyche or Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers succeed Mark Hughes at Stoke City?

Burnley’s Sean Dyche is the early favourite for Mark Hughes’ job as Stoke City manager, with Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers also among the contenders with one bookmaker.
Sky Bet have already opened a market on Hughes’ successor, following reports on Tuesday which claimed Stoke are considering his position at the Bet 365 Stadium.
And the list is immediately topped by Dyche (4/1), who has led Burnley to seventh in the Premier League this season, against expectation.

Republic of Ireland’s Martin O’Neill (5/1) and Zenit St Petersburg’s Roberto Mancini (6/1) follow the 46-year-old, with Rodgers (8/1) the only other boss with odds shorter than 10/1.
The Northern Irishman has won four trophies in 18 months at Celtic Park and suffered defeat in just one of his 73 domestic games in charge of the Bhoys.

Hughes was appointed Stoke manager in 2013 and led them to three straight ninth-placed finishes, however, the Potters finished 13th last season and are only two points clear of the relegation places ahead of Wednesday night’s fixtures.
Here’s a more detailed list of the early contenders, courtesy of Sky Bet:
Sean Dyche (Burnley) – 4/1
Martin O’Neill (Republic of Ireland) – 5/1
Roberto Mancini (Zenit St Petersburg) – 6/1
Brendan Rodgers (Celtic) – 8/1
Ronald Koeman – 10/1
Michael O’Neill (Northern Ireland); Ryan Giggs – 14/1
Aitor Karanka; Chris Hughton (Brighton & Hove Albion); Gary Rowett (Derby County) – 16/1
