Charlie Taylor quit Leeds United to sign with Burnley in the summer.

Charlie Taylor left Leeds United in controversial circumstances this summer after letting his contract run down.

He signed with Burnley, taking a shortcut to the Premier League, but it has not proved an easy adjustment.

Taylor only made his first league appearance of the season this week, as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Watford.

The left-back did not expect to struggle for games as much as he has, and admits he has found it difficult, and thanks the motivation given to him by manager Sean Dyche for keeping his spirits high.

Taylor told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It’s quite hard. You do get down a bit.

“When you see that [praise from Dyche], it does boost your confidence, and gives you hope.”

Taylor was Leeds’ first choice left-back but has struggled for game time at Burnley due to the excellent form of Stephen Ward.

Ward suffered an early injury in midweek which gave Taylor his opportunity, with his only previous appearances for the Clarets coming in the Carabao Cup.

The defender is due to be assessed today and if he is not deemed fit, then Taylor could be in line for his first league start against Brighton this weekend.
