Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The French World Cup winner thanked the fans for an incredible five years at the club but claimed that he needed a change to take on different challenges in his career. Griezmann was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer but he famously snubbed them to stay in Madrid.
However, reports have emerged that Barcelona are expected to trigger his £104 million release to bring him to the Camp Nou before the start of next season. Griezmann has featured in 256 games for Atleti in all competitions scoring 133 goals and providing 50 assists so far.
Speaking about Griezmann’s decision on ESPN, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley claimed that the Frenchman would be a huge hit at Liverpool next season.
“I actually think that Liverpool would be a great place for Griezmann to go this summer,” Burley told ESPN FC.
The former footballer turned pundit went on to say that Liverpool are on top of the game after pushing Manchester City for the title as well as reaching their second consecutive Champions League final. He continued saying that Griezmann should pick Liverpool over Manchester United and Barcelona and his signing will aid the likes of Firmino and Salah next season.

Burley said: “Liverpool are very much a team on the up at the moment and he could aid Roberto Firmino who also likes to drop deep. I don’t know if they have got enough money to do it but I wouldn’t go to Manchester United, that’s for sure. You look at that and we talk about Liverpool needing that strength in depth, he would add that and Firmino or Salah some games might sit out.”
Signing Griezmann would be a massive statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp and the Frenchman could well be the missing piece in their jigsaw who could push them ahead of Manchester City to get their hands on their Premier League title for the first time in 30 years.
