Could Leroy Sane become Jurgen Klopp’s first signing for Liverpool?

Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has, on Twitter, questioned whether talented Schalke star Leroy Sane could become Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool boss.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has signed a three-year deal at Anfield and made quite an impression in his first press conference, lighting up the room with his appealing personality.

However, the general consensus is that plenty of hard work lies ahead for Klopp and in order to take the club back into Premier League title contention, new additions must be made.

A number have speculated over his former players at Dortmund – such as defender Neven Subotic – yet Fjortoft has questioned whether impressive youngster Sane could in fact be his first addition.

Who is Leroy Sane?

Leroy Sane, 19, has come on leaps and bounds over the past 18 months and is now regarded as one of the biggest talents in the Bundesliga, impressing on a number of levels.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Sane is also capable of playing in wide areas and made quite an impact on his Champions League debut last season, scoring against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The former Leverkusen youngster has since featured more regularly for Schalke, scoring three goals in seven appearances this season and earning international recognition with the U19s and now the U21s.

Klopp certainly knows how to develop young players, turning the likes of Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski into world class players during his time at the Westfalonstadion in Dortmund.

Liverpool’s gamble on youngsters in recent years hasn’t been the best, yet under Klopp’s guidance, the Reds can be more assured of success in that department.
