Leeds had been linked to winger Alexandru Maxim.
Alexandru Maxim
Stuttgart sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser has stated there have been no enquiries from Leeds United for winger Alexandru Maxim.
Speaking to the Stuttgart Nachrtichten, Schindelmeiser addressed the rumours the winger could be joining the Whites.
He said: “We do not have any requests from Leeds.”
Over the weekend reports from Romanian news outlet Digi Sport claimed Leeds United were in advanced discussions over the signing of the 26-year-old winger.
Alexandru Maxim
German newspaper BILD had since reported Maxim did not want to join a club in England’s second tier.
He played in Germany’s second division last season, helping Stuttgart win promotion to the Bundesliga.
Maxim scored five goals and provided six assists last season, in 15 Bundesliga starts and 10 appearances from the bench.
The winger has a link to Leeds assistant Pep Clotet, who managed Maxim for Espanyol B back in 2009.
He is under contract at Stuttgart until 2019, and a switch to Leeds suddenly seems a lot less likely than it did a few days ago.
