Chicago Bulls’ No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft is already showing similarities with arguably the greatest player ever.
Caleb Wilson is another one of many UNC Tar Heels to play for the Chicago Bulls since Michael Jordan made that switch in 1984.
The others couldn’t come close to Jordan’s legacy, but there are high hopes for Wilson after his incredible start to life as an NBA player.
Caleb Wilson’s historic Summer League debut was ruined by a loss
Wilson scored 35 points (12-21 FG) with five rebounds, two steals, and three blocks against the Memphis Grizzlies in his Las Vegas Summer League debut.
This is the most anyone has ever scored in their Summer League debut, but the record is of little interest to Wilson after the 96-97 loss to Memphis.
“We lost.”
“My goal is to come here and win. Somebody’s gonna break it one day, as they always do. I’m happy I got the record, but I’m ready to move on to what’s next. We’ve got another game coming up soon.”
Wilson’s disregard for individual accomplishments because of his team losing highlights his commitment to being a winner in the NBA.
In an age where most players are satisfied with putting up numbers, it’s clear Wilson is planning on being on the path that the likes of Jordan took, instead of the countless failed Bulls saviors since 1998.
Caleb Wilson is proving to be better than advertised
Wilson’s Summer League debut pitted him against Cameron Boozer, the forward the Grizzlies selected one pick before the Bulls selected Wilson.

Boozer ended the game with 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists in an impressive showing. However, his individual performance didn’t shine like Wilson’s.
Wilson made seven three-pointers from NBA range in his Summer League debut after making seven threes all of the last NCAA season, highlighting the rapid development the 19-year-old forward has already gone through.
The 2026 Rookie of the Year is going to be fascinating, with Wilson likely making his presence felt alongside favorites like Boozer, AJ Dybantsa, and Darryn Peterson.
