Bukayo Saka has told Arsenal’s official website that Gunners teammate Alexandre Lacazette is “fun” to play alongside, after the two combined during Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Watford on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners made it four wins from four despite a late push from Roy Hodgson’s side at Vicarage Road. Martin Odegaard gave the Gunners the lead with a gorgeous finish, after some lovely football from Arsenal.

Saka laid off Odegaard to claim his fifth Premier League assist of the season, before scoring his ninth – after Cucho Hernandez had equalised. Lacazette found him and Saka finished superbly. Gabriel Martinelli made it three.

Ex-Tottenham star Moussa Sissoko did set up a nervy last few minutes but Arsenal held on to the three points. Speaking after the match, Saka was full of praise for striker Lacazette – who remains out of contract in the summer.

“That’s what we work on every day, the high press,” Saka said. “I found Laca and he knows my movement and where I am. It’s so fun to play with him. He put that ball in the perfect spot. It was just down to me to finish.”

Saka on Lacazette: Surely he deserves a new Arsenal contract?

Wearing the armband, Lacazette has been awesome. While he only has three Premier League goals in 20 games, and just two in his last 10 – it is his creativity as a no.9 that is absolutely pivotal to the way Arsenal play.

On Sunday, he got two assists. It takes him to seven for the season in the top tier, all of which have come in the last nine Premier League matches. Arsenal have handed big contracts to older players, and it has backfired.

But what is different between Lacazette, and the likes of Willian, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is that Lacazette has that drive, that hunger, and the utter love for Arsenal. A new deal is now deserved.
