Bukayo Saka has failed to acknowledge Unai Emery in an interview with BT Sports following Arsenal’s ruthless victory over Slavia Prague in the Europa League last night.
Saka was among the stars of the show in the Czech Republic as Arsenal recorded a 4-0 win to move into the semi-final of the competition as 5-1 aggregate winners.
And interestingly, the Gunners will now come up against Emery’s Villarreal in the last four of the competition.
The North Londoners sacked Emery in November of 2019 following some difficult results, before replacing him with Mikel Arteta some weeks later.
But when asked about the reunion with the Spaniard, Saka, who broke into Arsenal’s senior side under the former Sevilla coach, side-stepped the question in a big way.
He told BT Sport: “Yeah yeah. We look forward to the next opponent.”
This is such a difficult tie for Arsenal.
Not only are Villarreal clearly a very good side, but Emery has an abundance of worrying experience in the Europa League.
The former Sevilla coach has won this competition on three occasions and helped Arsenal into the final in 2019, losing to Chelsea.
But if Arteta’s side play like they did last night, Emery will hold similar fear regarding his old employers.
