Arsenal fans have praised Takehiro Tomiyasu after he gave his shirt away at full-time on Wednesday evening.

Lovely gesture

Tomiyasu had put in a typically hard-working display for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday.

But he still had the energy at full time to climb over the advertising hoardings and hand his shirt to a big fan.

Her delight at seeing her support recognised by Tomiyasu was clear in the photos.

And the heartwarming moment only helped to endear Tomiyasu to the Arsenal support even further.

Wonderful start

Tomiyasu certainly has made a fine start at Arsenal, and not just for his post match generosity.

Arsenal have not always been the most solid defensively and right-back has been a problem position for some time.

However, the Japanese international has adjusted to English football with consummate ease and already is one of the first names on the team sheet for Mikel Arteta’s side.

He is an exceptionally solid defender, but also has impressed through his willingness to work so hard.

Tomiyasu now looks set to play a key role for Arsenal over the years ahead, with Mikel Arteta’s side showing plenty of promise.

The Gunners’ win over West Ham actually pushed them into the top four, although they have played more games than many of their closest rivals.
