Jack Grealish and Ian Wright have praised one-time Arsenal target Tammy Abraham on Instagram after he etched his name into the legendary books at Roma.

On Sunday, Abraham helped Jose Mourinho’s side beat rivals Lazio 3-0 by netting a brace, and in return, scoring the most goals in a debut season for the Serie A giants.

Abraham has scored 15 goals in 29 Serie A matches and 23 overall for the campaign.

Nonetheless, Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, posted on the player’s Instagram post ‘we are proud of you’, whilst his former Aston Villa teammate, Jack Grealish, added ‘’Build a statue for you now’.

It could have been oh so different for Abraham because there were suggestions that he wanted to move to the Emirates in 2021.

Whilst Arsenal need a player of the 24-year-old’s goalscoring touch and attacking movement.

At the end of the day, his move to Rome has been a masterstroke and one that has put his name back on the map.

Even though Abraham thrived in Chelsea’s colours during his first full season for the club – scoring 15 Premier League goals – he was still replaced by big-money signing Timo Werner the following campaign.

Abraham’s game time reduced and it led him to Italy’s path where he is now creating legendary status – and Werner is now sat on Chelsea’s bench.

It’s probably understandable why Arsenal didn’t push for his talents because surely the club should impose some sort of ban on buying Chelsea players.

From David Luiz to Willian, the club’s recent history of bringing Chelsea players to the Emirates has resulted in disaster, after a disaster.

But now, the north London club’s recruitment, as is proved by this season’s result, is back on track and heading in the right direction.
