RB Leipzig have been praised for their play under Julian Nagelsmann, but they were torn apart on Wednesday night.

The Bundesliga side travelled to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the Champions League, and may have been hoping for a big win.

However, Leipzig couldn’t live with United, and fell to a 5-0 thrashing as Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial scored, whilst Marcus Rashford stole the show with a hat-trick.

Rashford came off the bench to score a rapid hat-trick, bagging a couple of powerful efforts in a thumping win for the Red Devils.

Liverpool may have been paying close attention, given that The Sunday World reported last weekend that they want to sign Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Reds have lost Virgil van Dijk to a major knee injury, and have allegedly picked out Upamecano as their first-choice target for the January window.

Upamecano didn’t exactly cover himself in glory last night, and co-commentator Martin Keown told BT Sport during the game (77 min) that Rashford ‘destroyed’ Upamecano at Old Trafford.

“All that talk about Upamecano. He’s absolutely destroyed him hasn’t he” said Keown.

Upamecano has shown enough during his time at Leipzig to suggest that he can be a top Premier League defender, but last night’s display against one of England’s best may just leave some a little worried about Liverpool’s pursuit.
