Peter Crouch has hailed Liverpool transfer chief Michael Edwards’ work on BT Sport, following the Reds’ Champions League success last night.
Liverpool beat Atalanta 5-0, with summer signing Jota catching the eye on the evening.
Jota netted a hat-trick in the contest, with his touch and finishing ability really coming to the fore.
Jota looks set to be another brilliant addition to Liverpool’s squad.
And Crouch feels that Edwards deserves huge plaudits for his recruitment in recent years, as Liverpool often manage to find un-fancied players and turn them into superstars.
“Jota has come in and took to it straight away. He looks like he gets on well with the other two players,” Crouch said.
“You just have to tip your hat to the recruitment policy. “Would have said there were many people after Jota? There weren’t people clambering to get him.
“If you go through it, Salah was at Roma and had been at Chelsea, Alisson – there wasn’t loads after him, Robertson was £7 million, Wijnaldum at Newcastle, Mane even.

“I think Michael Edwards and all the recruitment team deserve a lot of credit.”
Jota may have taken the headlines last night, with Liverpool’s attack stealing the show.
But the fact that the Reds kept a clean-sheet with a back-four which cost them little over £10 million also shows just how impressive their transfer dealings have been.
Edwards is very popular at Liverpool, and it is easy to see why, as he seems to have a happy knack of picking out the perfect players to fit into Klopp’s team.
