Karen Carney has admitted on BT Sport that something was not right with Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang last night.

Aubameyang had plenty of chances against Olympiacos, but the Arsenal striker failed to convert any of them, during an evening when he was extremely wasteful.

The rapid striker broke in behind multiple times, but did not apply any finishing touches, as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Olympiacos.

And Carney said, when commenting on a one-on-one which the striker missed in the second half: “Aubameyang wasn’t right tonight. It wasn’t a case of tiredness, because he wasn’t playing at the weekend.

“He has to score that. For his standards and quality he has to score.”

Aubameyang was dropped from Arsenal’s squad before the North London derby, for reportedly turning up late to the game.

However, Mikel Arteta insisted after the match that that wasn’t the reason why Aubameyang performed below his usual standards.

Ultimately Aubameyang picked a good match to lose his shooting boots.

Arsenal may have lost on the evening, but they still made it through on aggregate, after establishing such a commanding lead in the first leg.
