The former Celtic striker, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport and BBC Sport, said that comments from Gerrard on Morelos after the defeat for Rangers on Thursday evening suggest that the Liverpool legend does not want the Colombia international in his team.
The Gers lost 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, and after the match, Rangers boss Gerrard said that the 24-year-old striker “has had his head turned” by speculation on his future, as quoted on Skysports.com.
According to The Daily Mail, Lille are interested in signing Morelos from Rangers in the summer transfer window.
Sutton said on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 1 on Friday evening (6:38pm, August 7, 2020): “Gerrard clearly wants him out of the door with his comments.
“I have never heard him speak in the terms about Morelos as he did last night, saying his head has been turned.”

Uncertainty over future
With Rangers having signed Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten this summer, the Gers have already given themselves assurances that they will not be short of strikers should Morelos leave this summer.
Meanwhile, Rangers have missed out on the signing of Morgan Fox to Stoke City.
TEAMtalk reported in May of interest from the Gers in the left-back, but he has now joined Stoke on a free transfer, having left Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer.
