With another season at Swansea City reportedly on the cards for Gylfi Sigurdsson, he must again be the club’s creative force.

Gylfi Sigurdsson looks set to stay at Swansea City this summer, according to WalesOnline.

The midfield star had been an alleged target of Everton after dragging the Swans to Premier League safety last season, but the report suggests the Merseyside club are unwilling to match a £50million valuation.

And so, after Sigurdsson missed a pre-season tour of the United States due to the speculation, Swansea quickly need their key man fit and firing again.

Not only did the Iceland international weigh in with nine league goals last season, he also contributed 13 assists – trailing only Kevin de Bruyne and Christian Eriksen in that regard.

And given Swansea’s prospective forward line for the coming campaign, Sigurdsson’s creativity will be crucial.

Tammy Abraham has signed on loan while WalesOnline report an interest in a deal for Alvaro Negredo – and both players may struggle to make chances of their own accord.

Negredo faltered in a blunt Middlesbrough side last season and it is important that Swansea do not echo the relegated club’s problems in failing to provide a supply line.

Both Abraham and Negredo, as well as Fernando Llorente, are fine poachers, but Swansea’s season will depend on a midfield source feeding the forwards.

Sigurdsson is the obvious candidate and if he were to depart, the Welsh club would have to respond swiftly with a big-money replacement.
