Bryson DeChambeau is one of the most polarizing figures in the professional game.

DeChambeau was one of the biggest names to jump ship from the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf back in 2022.

However, it’s fair to say that the 32-year-old American will be disillusioned right now with the state that LIV Golf finds itself in.

Bryson DeChambeau‘s current contract with LIV Golf expires at the end of this season.

There have been rumors that he may be looking to return to the PGA Tour once his time with LIV comes to an end.

In fact, Bryson DeChambeau has allegedly already sounded out the PGA Tour about a potential return.

With PIF having announced that they would no longer be funding LIV Golf beyond the end of the 2026 season, the 32-year-old from Dallas will have a very big decision to make within the next few months.

Brooks Koepka was the first LIV Golf star to return to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf. Patrick Reed then chose the same path, with his PGA Tour ban set to expire at the end of August.

DeChambeau was offered the same deal that Koepka was back in January, but he rejected it. However, with the Saudis’ funding of LIV set to cease within the next few months, he is in a very different position now than he was at the start of the year.

With DeChambeau’s future currently completely up in the air, nobody actually knows where he will be playing his golf next season.

American sports journalist Mark Schlabach made an appearance on The Pat McAfee show, and discussed DeChambeau’s current situation.

He was asked how he believes the story could play out, if DeChambeau does in fact pursue a return to the PGA Tour.

He is the most polarizing in terms of whether they are going to let him come back, Schlabach said.

There is definitely going to be a big penalty.

I was told there are guys in the PGA Tour locker room that have memorised everything negative he has said about the PGA Tour over the last four or five years. There is obviously a ton of scar tissue when it comes to Bryson.

He is a huge name. He is massively popular among kids, but he may well be making YouTube videos for a while before he can come back on the PGA Tour.

Bryson DeChambeau doesn’t have the leverage he thinks he does

Much will depend on what DeChambeau actually wants to do.

If he does leave LIV Golf when his contract expires at the end of this season, will he be happy purely creating content?

Or will he still want to compete at the highest level?

If DeChambeau does pursue a return to the PGA Tour, he will face extremely harsh sanctions, just like Brooks Koepka did five months ago.

He can expect a hefty fine and absolutely no elite-level status when it comes to entrance into the Signature Events.

It will be fascinating to see whether Bryson DeChambeau is up for the fight, just like Koepka has been.

A PGA Tour return may be possible for the two-time US Open champion, but his path back from LIV Golf will be far from a clear one.

The main point is that DeChambeau doesn’t have the leverage he thinks he does. The PGA Tour have done just fine without him, and they will continue to do so, if he doesn’t return.
