Bryson DeChambeau was wrapped in the middle of the biggest controversy of The Open.
The two-time US Open winner looked likely to win the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale after moving to within one shot of the lead after 36 holes. But the R&A docked him two strokes for inadvertently improving his lie out of the rough on the fifth hole.
DeChambeau argued with the rule officials at length on Friday evening, and even threatened to pull out of the tournament, but he never gave his side of the story to the media.
He’s chosen not to speak to the media at major championships since The Masters, instead speaking about his major performances on his YouTube channel. And DeChambeau has continued that trend one week later at LIV UK.

DeChambeau and LIV golfers are spending another week in the UK to play in their LIV Golf event at the JCB Golf and Country Club.
He’s the first person the media want to speak to following the controversies of The Open Championship, but they will not have the opportunity to speak to the two-time US Open winner.
That’s because DeChambeau will not be taking questions from the media in the pre-tournament press conference at LIV UK.
The media made constant attempts to talk to DeChambeau throughout The Open, giving him an opportunity to tell his side of the story and explain his protests to the R&A’s ruling. But DeChambeau politely declined each time.
He wants to control his own narrative and avoid difficult questions. That’s his right as a golfer, but it’s still immensely frustrating for fans hoping to hear what one of the most popular players on the planet has to say.
