Bryson DeChambeau breaks silence on LIV contract talks

There’s no question that Bryson DeChambeau is the face of LIV Golf.

Without him, it’s hard to see how LIV would keep going, and that’s exactly why they’re working so hard to lock him into a new contract.

Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have both left LIV in the last month, with each being given a way back onto the PGA Tour.

LIV is currently in negotiations with the 32-year-old over an extension, though no agreement has been reached yet.

The introduction of world ranking points could be an important step in getting DeChambeau to commit long-term.

DeChambeau isn’t rushing into anything. He wants more clarity on what his future will look like before making any decisions about his next contract.

Latest on DeChambeau’s contract situation with LIV Golf

Right now, the main topic around LIV is what DeChambeau decides to do next. If he agrees to a new deal, it would be a major boost for LIV. But if talks break down, they could have a big problem on their hands.

The Texas native spoke with the Mirror and gave an update on where things stand right now. “Yeah, progress has been made,” DeChambeau insisted.

“We, again, are in negotiations, and I want what’s best for the game of golf and for the league. Ultimately we just have to continue to align.”

DeChambeau was also asked if Patrick Reed’s decision to leave LIV had any effect on his own contract discussions.

“Everybody has their own decisions to make for whatever reasons they are,” DeChambeau said.

“I’m currently focused on what I’m trying to deliver to LIV Golf into the golf ecosystem and however it shakes out, you know, it’s going to shake out, but currently this year is going to be a good year of golf for me.

“Very excited for the future of that competitively, the year with LIV Golf, and then with the majors. I love the golf courses this year and I need to be ready to go for those tournaments.

“So I’m excited.”

The next 12 months will be crucial for DeChambeau as he looks not just for wins on the LIV circuit but also in golf’s biggest events – something that clearly motivates him more than anything else right now.
