Bryson DeChambeau has suggested that he could decide to play in the Irish Open in September after Rory McIlroy recently claimed that it would be brilliant for the event to have the LIV Golf star in the field.
So much surrounding DeChambeau is up in the air right now. Not only is his LIV Golf contract edging closer to expiring, but there continue to be doubts over whether the league will even exist next year.

The LIV season ends at some point in August. So the two-time US Open champion will presumably be able to play elsewhere in September, including at the Irish Open on the DP World Tour.

Rory McIlroy insisted that it would be great to have DeChambeau play Doonbeg during last week’s Open Championship.
The Northern Irishman’s comments were particularly interesting when you consider that McIlroy also confirmed that he is not particularly fond of DeChambeau while at Royal Birkdale.
DeChambeau was asked in his press conference after the third round of LIV Golf UK about whether he could decide to play at Trump International.
He did not shut the door on the idea.
“Yeah, if it fits in the schedule I’d love to go play. I love playing internationally and that’s what we do here at LIV. Anywhere I can go to support great golf in a good place, I’m all for,” he said.
“So we’ll see if it fits in and it makes sense for the schedule. That’s really all I have to say.”

Admittedly, many will probably assume that DeChambeau is simply being polite and will probably find a reason to not justify playing in the event.
For example, he has not been particularly helpful to The International Series over the years, with his most recent start coming in early 2025.
That goes somewhat against his claim that he loves to support golf all over the world.
But there may be an important opportunity for DeChambeau heading into the Irish Open.
LIV’s future should be much clearer by that stage. So thoughts may have turned to where DeChambeau is going to be playing his golf during the 2027 season.
DeChambeau reminded everyone of how box office he is during The Open Championship. It is surely a good thing for LIV, and DeChambeau himself, if he plays as much as possible over the coming months.
Fans will be fascinated to see what happens if McIlroy and DeChambeau headline the Irish Open field.
And if DeChambeau is able to impress and contend, then his stock will receive another big boost as LIV potentially try to agree a new contract with him.
