The new Sunderland defender put in a wonderful performance against Crystal Palace.
Sunderland defender Bryan Oviedo had a debut to remember as he put in a superb individual performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Black Cats ran out 4-0 winners courtesy of goals from Lamine Kone, Didier Ndong and Jermain Defoe (2) but Oviedo’s influence should not be understated.

The left-back played the full 90 minutes for David Moyes’ side against the Eagles and he looked like an absolute bargain from start to finish.
| Passing Accuracy | Key Passes | Duels Won | Aerials Won | Touches | Effective Clearances | Ball Recoveries | Dispossessed | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bryan Oviedo | 77% | 1 | 12 | 1 | 59 | 6 | 8 | 0 | 90 |
Sunderland’s January signing had a passing accuracy of 77 per cent and he was not dispossessed all afternoon.
Oviedo also won a very impressive 12 duels and eight ball recoveries while he made six effective clearances in the match.

With 59 touches (the joint-most of any Sunderland played on the day along with Billy Jones) Oviedo’s influence was clear and fans of the Black Cats will be hoping he can maintain this form for the rest of the season.
Sunderland still have a lot of work to do but Saturday was a ray of light in an otherwise disappointing campaign; a suggestion that things could, finally, be about to change for Moyes’ men.
