Sunderland signed Bryan Oviedo from Everton in the January transfer window.
Sunderland defender Bryan Oviedo has told the Chronicle that his time at the Stadium of Light has been very disappointing so far.
Oviedo joined Sunderland from Everton in the January transfer window, as David Moyes looked to strengthen his squad.
With Sunderland in relegation trouble in the new year, Moyes wanted additions to help his side get out of trouble.
However, the likes of Oviedo and Darron Gibson did not manage to do enough to keep the Black Cats in the top flight.
And the Costa Rican international admits that he feels gutted to have played his part in a relegation campaign.
“At the moment I feel disappointed because when I came here I came with the ambition to try to help the team to stay in the Premier League but it was not easy,” Oviedo said.
“We didn’t get the results we wanted but we need to look forward and be ready for next season. The team needs to get back to the Premier League because everyone wants this – the team and the fans.”
Oviedo has made nine appearances for Sunderland since joining, and he has been handed an important role by Moyes.
The 27-year-old appears to be likely to stick around next season, as Sunderland look to earn an immediate promotion back to the top tier.
