Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo has spoken about his excitement to be joining the club, with the deal finally over the line.
It took around six weeks of discussions for United to finalise the move, which wrapped up in recent days.
Matheus Cunha was already in the door by 1 June, and attention quickly turned to Mbeumo. Early on, it looked like a straightforward deal to complete.
The first offer came soon after that decision, but Brentford turned it down. The bid was valued at £55m including add-ons.
That started a stretch of negotiations between the clubs before another offer came in at £62.5m. Brentford rejected that too, but United eventually agreed last week to pay £71m with add-ons included to wrap up the deal.
The club then had a quick turnaround to get all paperwork sorted ahead of pre-season and managed to meet all deadlines without issue.
Bryan Mbeumo reveals why he’s looking forward to working under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United officially introduced Bryan Mbeumo on Monday, just in time for their pre-season tour of the USA and Summer Series fixtures.
Taking the number 19 shirt, the 26-year-old spoke with MUTV after his move was finalised, where he also discussed what he’s heard about head coach Ruben Amorim.
During his chat with club media, Mbeumo was asked about teaming up with Matheus Cunha and shared his early impressions of the manager.
Comparing Amorim to his old boss Thomas Frank, who he spent six years with at Brentford, Mbeumo said:
“I think they are very similar”, he said. “He seems very close to his players and his mentality is winning every time. This is something I need.”
Amorim has built a reputation for strong man management skills, which Mbeumo seems to have already picked up on. It’s likely that Andre Onana, who shares an international background with Mbeumo, provided similar insights before the move was completed.
Manchester United’s attack starting to take shape under Amorim
With Mbeumo now on board, Manchester United’s attack is starting to look much stronger than it did last season.
Mbeumo and Cunha bring quality, but just as importantly, both players are already fully behind Amorim’s vision for the club.
Last season, Alejandro Garnacho often found himself out of sync with the rest of the squad, regularly choosing not to align with his teammates.
This shouldn’t be an issue with Cunha and Mbeumo. Both are in their prime years and can be seen as leaders within the squad. Just having those two around should help steady things for the Red Devils.
