Bryan Gil has earned fan favourite reputation during his time on loan at Valencia, but he has confirmed he will be returning to Tottenham. That is, despite reports claiming Valencia were in talks to secure a second loan.

Gil, 21, joined Valencia on loan in January without a permanent option. It came after failing to score in 20 appearances for Spurs – and with the North London side exiting Europe. Dejan Kulusevski came in from Juventus.

Since then, he has sparkled for Valencia. Playing 13 times, he has been likened to Lionel Messi and fans even urged him to stay in a public display of affection. The Star, among others, claim Valencia wanted another loan.

However, the signing from Sevilla – costing £21.6million and Erik Lamela – has taken to Instagram to thank Valencia fans for their love. He confirms a return to Spurs, saying “I’m sure we’ll cross paths in the future.”

Translation: “I’m lucky to have belonged to this great club. To this great family, I can only thank you for how you welcomed me, how you made me feel. I’m sure we’ll cross paths in the future, good luck and go Valencia.”

Gil confirms Tottenham return: Better off staying at Valencia?

Without a doubt. Kulusevski has been sensational for Spurs, with 13 goal involvements in 18 Premier League games. They still have Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura as cover for Son Heung-min in North London.

Gil seems like he will return to Spurs and Antonio Conte might want another look at him in pre-season. But realistically, he should go out on loan again and Valencia is ideal, given the appreciation he has in the bank.
