Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Everton in a lively game, falling short of making it three wins in a row on their USA tour.

The team struggled to maintain control, and the match highlighted several areas still needing attention.

Following that, captain Bruno Fernandes did not shy away from saying – in his post-match interview – what he hopes Ineos will do before the end of the transfer window to address some of the squad’s issues.

Since turning down Al-Hilal’s offer, Bruno Fernandes has made it clear he intends to uphold high standards at Old Trafford.

Whether it is players or those higher up, he seems comfortable calling them out, given his standing in the squad.

After the 2-2 draw with Everton, which highlighted both United’s lack of athleticism in midfield and the need for a reliable striker, Fernandes addressed the issues again.

When asked if he was satisfied with how things were going, he did not hold back about wanting more movement in the transfer market.

“I don’t want to take a dig at anyone, but the club is doing the best they can in terms of the financial situation they talk about.

“But it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here, more quality to get everyone to step up a little bit more, and I think that is what the club are trying to do. Hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that.”

Fernandes voices concerns shared by Man United fans

Fans will be glad to hear Fernandes speak up, as he has put into words what many already believe about the current state of the squad.

While improvement from within is always important, there are still three glaring issues that need to be addressed.

The goalkeeper situation remains unsettled, while midfield options are either too technical and lack physicality or too athletic without enough ball progression.

Then there is the ongoing striker issue. Benjamin Sesko is still the main target, and Rasmus Hojlund has been made available for transfer.

In a perfect scenario, all three areas would be sorted by the end of the window. But as Fernandes pointed out, financial limitations mean that is not likely.

Still, at least two of those positions need reinforcements if United are going to make real progress under Amorim. Fernandes has made his stance clear. Now it is up to Ineos to respond.
