Bruno Fernandes is making his presence felt across the Premier League, establishing himself as a standout talent in the league.

Bruno Fernandes is showcasing some of the best football of his Manchester United career. After scoring twice and providing an assist in United’s 4–1 victory over Wolves, the captain now sits atop the Premier League assist charts. His recent form also saw him surpass Paul Scholes’ tally for Premier League assists at the club — a milestone that underlines his longevity and influence, even after moving into a deeper midfield role.

United supporters named him Man of the Match against Wolves, and Alan Shearer placed him in his Team of the Week. To round off a standout spell, Fernandes has now earned yet another Premier League accolade.

Bruno Fernandes named Premier League Player of the Week

Fernandes began December by winning the Premier League’s Player of the Week for gameweek 13, having led United’s 2–1 comeback win over Crystal Palace. Two weeks later, he has repeated the achievement.

Following his standout performance against Wolves, Fernandes secured the Player of the Week award for gameweek 15 — and dominated the public vote. According to the Premier League, he collected 50% of the votes, far ahead of Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki, who finished second with just 14%.

It marks Fernandes’ second Player of the Week award of the 2025/26 campaign. He follows teammates Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire, who have also collected the honour this season.

Fernandes matches Moisés Caicedo as both stars claim two awards

With his second win, Fernandes has now matched Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo as the only two players to secure multiple Player of the Week awards this season.

United famously missed out on Caicedo when he was available for just £4.5 million in 2021. Instead, he joined Brighton before completing a £115m record-breaking move to Chelsea, where he has since established himself as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders — and a direct rival to Fernandes for midfield dominance.

Fernandes, however, now has the chance to go one better. In his current form, he could become the first player this season to collect three Player of the Week awards. Given the level he is operating at, few would bet against him.
