Glasgow Rangers summer signing Carlos Pena has made a bright start to life at Ibrox.

Bruno Alves has suggested to Rangers’ official YouTube channel that Carlos Pena still needs time to adapt to life at Ibrox, but the Portuguese backed his new teammate to build on his bright start.

After a difficult first few weeks at Ibrox following his £2.7 million move (via Daily Record), Pena appears to have turned a corner in recent weeks, scoring four times in his last six appearances, including an impressive brace over St Johnstone last time out.

And Alves agreed that the Gers fans are starting to see what the Mexico international could be capable of, but added that he still needs time to adapt to the demands of the Scottish Premiership.

“I think so, yes,” he said, as reported by Rangers’ official YouTube channel. when asked whether Pena has shown in the last two games how good he could be.

“He needs time. He’s come from a different country, a different culture. Here, the football is different, it’s fast, you need to fight for every ball, and I think it’s the process.

“He needs time, all the players when they change countries need time to adapt. But, in the end, the quality comes out because football will always be football everywhere.”

What should be incredibly encouraging for the Rangers supporters is the fact that Alves is not entirely convinced that Pena has quite adapted to life at Ibrox, as his goalscoring form for a midfielder is extremely impressive and actually makes him their third highest goalscorer in the top flight.

And if he does manage to find new gears as he grows accustomed to Scotland, then Pedro Caixinha may soon be reflecting that the deal to bring him to Rangers proved to be money extremely well spent.
