Glasgow Rangers defender Bruno Alves has been linked with moves away from Ibrox in the January transfer window.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 22:Bruno Alves of Rangers tackles All Campbell of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers defender Bruno Alves wants to remain at the club beyond the January transfer window, according to STV.

The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that Rangers are looking to offload Alves this month.

The 36-year-old central defender joined the Gers in the summer of 2017 after leaving Italian club Cagliari at the end of the 201-17 season.

The Portugal international centre-back arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation and was a signing made by then Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha.

Alves has struggled with injuries and has not been at his best when he has played.

The defender, though, wants to carry on at Ibrox, according to STV, with clubs in Qatar claimed to be interested in him.

Bruno Alves of Rangers arrives at the stadium prior to the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The former Zenit Saint Petersburg and Fenerbahce star is a very good and hugely experienced, and Rangers should keep faith in him.

True, Alves has not done well at Ibrox, but the Gers should trust him, given what he has achieved in his career so far.

Rangers are unlikely to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, but the Gers can certainly clinch the runners-up spot.
