Rangers defender Bruno Alves has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that he has agreed nothing with Parma just yet, and hasn’t made a final decision on his future.

The Gers swooped to land Alves from Cagliari last summer as Pedro Caixinha brought in a major coup in his Portuguese compatriot, with the veteran expected to lead the Rangers defence.

However, Alves failed to hit top form under Caixinha, and then struggled for playing time once Caixinha had been sacked, all resulting in a disappointing first season at Ibrox.

With new boss Steven Gerrard bringing in Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic this summer, Alves has dropped down the Rangers pecking order, and his future is up in the air.

Parma – recently promoted back to Serie A – have been linked with a move to sign Alves, with Sky Sports even reporting that the 36-year-old defender has undergone a medical with the club.

Parma are being investigated over alleged match-fixing so may yet have their promotion revoked, and Alves has now suggested that his future isn’t settled just yet.

Alves has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that he hasn’t made a decision on his future yet, but hinted that he would like a return to Italy as he feels it’s a good standard of football in Serie A.

“There is nothing definite yet with me signing for Parma,” said Alves. “I have a year left of my contract with Glasgow Rangers and I have yet to decide what is the best option for my career.”

“Perhaps it will be good for me to return to Italy. I like it because it is a good standard of league. But we will see what happens,” he added.
