Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers brought in Bruno Alves in a shock transfer during the summer transfer window.

Alves was Rangers’ most high profile addition for a number of years, with Pedro Caixinha managing to snap up the centre-back after his contract at Cagliari expired.
The 35-year-old has immediately been given an important role to play at Rangers, but not everything has gone smoothly at Ibrox this term.

Rangers have made some improvements, but they still seem to be a considerable distance behind their Glasgow rivals Celtic.
The Light Blues already appear very unlikely to win the Scottish Premiership title this term. But Alves is convinced that moving to Rangers was the right step for his career.
“I had some experience of playing against Rangers before and Celtic also, and I believe that I made the right decision,” Alves said.
“It’s a good experience for myself and my career. And I bring experience with me that I can try to give to my team-mates, and try to win. In the end that’s the most important thing – to win titles. It’s also why I came here, because I am closer to winning titles.”

Alves is likely to play for Rangers at the weekend, as Caixinha looks to move a step closer to delivering his first piece of silverware to Ibrox.
Rangers take on Motherwell at Hampden Park on Sunday, looking to book their place in the Scottish League Cup final.
